The South Niagara Rowing Club is looking young leaders to take on exciting coaching opportunities with our club and assist the Club Program Director in the planning and delivery of:

  • Summer and Fall Competitive Rowing Programs – Junior U17 / U19 and Senior / U23
  • Train to Train
  • Adult Learn to Row and Masters Competitive
  • Learn to Row and Youth Summer Rowing Camp
  • Marketing Leader

CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES (Competitive Coach and Novice Coach – POSTED MARCH 20, 2019):


1)  Competitive COACH  ($16/hour)

The roles require a strong ability to communicate to athletes and parents with clarity, in terms of athlete expectations, selection and participation.

With guidance from the Club Program Director, the Competitive Coach will be the go to person for parents and athletes.

The Competitive Coach will represent the program and the Club with the professionalism, respect and leadership.

·         30-40 hours/week for approx. 10-12 weeks starting as early as April 24, 2019

·         Daily training with days off as needed

Responsibilities:

    • Develop and Implement training program for competitive athletes in coordination with Club Senior Coach or Program Director.
    • Coach Recreational, Junior Development, and Masters groups.
    • Provide technical feedback to athletes
    • Facilitate athlete learning
    • Assist in the enforcement of SNRC rules and safety policies
    • Promoting and recruiting members for the SNRC
    • Maintain a safe environment at all times
    • Inclusive, positive attitude toward all athletes both on and off the water
    • Energetic and enthusiastic manner
    • Fueling boat motors
    • Small boat repair
    • Organizing boat trailer

Requirements:

    • Must be under 30 years of age (requirement for CSJ grant funding)
    • Must have own transportation
    • Must have competitive rowing experience
    • Must have coaching experience
    • Must have motor boat license (Pleasure Craft Operator)
    • First Aid/CPR/AED, RCA Coach Level 1 training an asset
    • Good communication and organizational skills

2) Novice COACH ($14/hour)

    • 30 hours/week for 7 weeks starting early July 2018
    • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-12:30pm and 5:45pm to 8:15pm
    • Extra hours are required for promotional events

Responsibilities:

    • Planning, implementing and operating Youth Camp, a half-day camp offering 11-15 year olds the opportunity to learn the sport of rowing and develop new skills in a fun and supportive camp environment.
    • Coach Learn to Row, Adult Recreational and Train to Train sessions
    • Assist the Club Program Director or Senior Coach as well as summer coaches
    • Inclusive, positive attitude toward all participants both on and off the water
    • Energetic and enthusiastic manner
    • Fueling boat motors
